About Dean
Chiropractic

Christophe Dean, DC and his son, Jonathan Dean, DC, are your Dean Chiropractic doctors.

Christophe Dean, DC has been a chiropractor since 1975. He graduated From Palmer College of Chiropractic after completing his undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University. Early on in his career, he became active in the professional associations serving his profession. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chiropractic Council and served as Chairman of that group's Peer Review Committee. He developed a popular seminar for new doctors and for 2 years taught this program for the International Chiropractors Association at various Chiropractic Colleges. He attended his first seminar in Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique in 1978 and in 1986 became an instructor for Activator Methods International.

He became active in the Michigan Chiropractic Society (MCS) in 1994. He served on its Board of Directors since 1998 and was elected President in 2004. As President he was instrumental in forging the unification of the two competing Chiropractic professional organizations into a single group, the Michigan Association of Chiropractors. He served on the committee that constructed the by-laws of the new organization. In 2007, he was awarded "Chiropractor of the Year" by that group.

Although many of Dr. Dean's patients come from all walks of life, he sees many athletes and performers. "My daughter is a figure skater. Early on, she would bring me her friends with various skating related injuries. This developed into a particular focus of my practice." Dr. Dean has been "Team Chiropractor" for Detroit Skating Club and "Event Chiropractor" on the medical staff for National competitions.

In addition to nationally and internationally ranked skaters, Dr. Dean also has many patients that dance competitively and professionally. He has helped performers in the touring cast of "Phantom of the Opera," "Miss Saigon" and "Mama Mia" among others. While in Detroit, performers from Hollywood and New York will seek care, many referred in by looking for an "Activator" chiropractor. "Dancers and athletes will come at first for relief of an injury. They soon see improvements in flexibility, balance and strength. Chiropractic allows them to elevate the level of their performance." says Dr. Dean. He recently worked on an NHL goalie from another team ("It's a good thing the Red Wings beat them in the playoffs or I would have felt like a traitor.")

"Throughout the 30 plus years that I have been in practice, I have been guided by a commitment to 'evidence based practices.' This means that at every step of the way we are constantly referencing the latest studies to insure that our treatment will be the most effective in the least amount of time."

Jonathan Dean, DC graduated with honors in 2008 from Logan Chiropractic College in Chesterfield, Missouri. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University.

He will focus on specialties including the Activator Method; the Cox Flexion/Distraction Technique for lower back pain; and the Active Release Techniques (ART) system for soft tissue treatment of muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

His most important interest is in preventative care. He recommends chiropractic for early detection and prevention to keep adults healthy and in condition to pursue an active lifestyle.

Jonathan enjoys the great patients at Dean Chiropractic and the opportunity to educate people about chiropractic technique and how it works.

"So many people leave college and stop exercising because of great demands at work and at home. For the weekend warrior, this can cause strains and sprains that lead to unnecessary degeneration. My personal experience with chiropractic care has resulted in a pain-free, naturally healthy lifestyle. I want to share my experience with others so they may enjoy the same benefits."
